At the age of 3 Basia went to a kindergarten for children with strabismus and short-sight disability. She was under the supervision of her mother at first, then - under one of the nurses. In addition to kindergarten activities Basia attended the logopaedical and psychological drill sessions.
     As the Doman method of rehabilitation excludes a possibility of any other therapy methods Basia has sopped attending the kindergarten, she came back to it after two years with regard to the necessity of her social growth in the group.
     The school attendance duty had been delayed by a year because of psycho-movement and speaking development deficiency. There were examinations carried out by a psycho-pedagogical bureau and Basia was directed to attend a special school.
     We dreamt of our daughter attending an average school for non-disabled children.
     What we considered impossible it became the real an 1-6-1997: one of the grammar schools at Legnica accepted Basia. She follows there an individual learning programme of the special school and attends the selected lessons together with the class.

           

     Basia is fully accepted by the class-mates, she has friends who assist her in case of need and with whom she maintains after-lessons relations. Despite of a severe restraint of speaking ability she is a cheerfull unassuming teenager. Our next dream is that Basia attended a secondary school with non-disabled young people, having finished the grammar school education.
